Missions

A mission is something you ask players to do, and what they get when they do it.

  • Finish three lessons this week, get a free coffee.
  • Spend 100 this month, get 500 points.
  • Leave your first review, get a badge.

What one is made of

An objective. What the player has to do, written as a rule.

Who can take part. Everyone, or only the players who match a rule: customers on a paid plan, people who have not visited in 30 days.

A reward. Points, or something from your catalog.

One objective, or several

A mission can ask for one thing or for several. "Finish three lessons" is one objective. "Finish three lessons and leave a review" is two, and the mission pays only when both are done.

With several, you choose whether they have to be done in the order you listed them, or in any order.

One-time or recurring

One-time. A player can finish it once, ever.

Recurring. Every player gets a fresh attempt each period. "Book three trips a month" starts over on the first, so somebody who finished in March can finish again in April.

Opt-in

Most missions start the moment a player qualifies, with nothing asked of them.

You can instead require the player to accept the mission before it begins, which suits anything that feels like a commitment, such as a 30-day challenge.

Collections

A collection is a group of missions in an order you set: a summer promotion, an onboarding checklist, a set of weekly challenges. A mission can also live only inside one, so it appears there and nowhere else.
